The Thief Class

When considering thieves, it is tempting to think only of stealing coins and items. Thieves on Zebedee are much more than that! Thieves are also nimble and skillful combatants. Masters of movement, dodging and sidestepping to avoid enemy attacks, then striking hard when opportunity arises.

Thieves are a challenging class to play and perhaps not the best choice for a new player. However they can be fun and have some quite unique qualities including some good playerkilling skills.

Perhaps the best way to illustrate the potential of a thief is to give an example:-

The thief uses his tracking abilities to follow the trail of a player. When he gets close he starts to creep stealthily closer room by room. He reaches the player without being spotted and steals a valuable item from him. Then with vicious intent he backstabs the unsuspecting victim! The opponent suprised, turns to attack but the thief anticipating this backflips and avoids the attack skillfully, creating openings in combat which the thief then uses to land a flurry of strikes stunning his opponent.

As would be expected, thieves can also pick locks and hide in shadows. They can also use wands and scrolls at higher levels, and they are masters of escape and traps!

Weapons and Armour

Thieves are skilled with swords and other sharp weapons but may not use two-handed swords which are unwieldy for a nimble wielder. They come to their full potential though when wielding a knife dagger or short sword in their off hand. High level thieves also gain the use of poison which they can apply to their weapons to add further damage tot heir foes. Thieves being highly mobile wear light armour, normaly leather as a main source of protection. This gives less safety than full platemail, but with their skills at avoiding damage there is little for a thief to fear from incoming attacks.
